I'm back on Typepad again, but I'm sure nobody noticed.
Actually, Typepad should pay Tumblr for keeping me in the blogging game. I heard a stat that something like 80%-90% of blog accounts are eventually abandoned because it's either too much work to get started or it's too much work to keep going. That was definitely true for me, until I discovered another way.
Tumblr is an awesome site that boils blogging down to it's core components:
1. Creating content
2. Collecting multi-media from across your life
3. Sharing 1 & 2
I loved Tumbling. I didn't feel like I needed to try to be too clever, and I didn't feel like I needed to write long and perfectly worded posts. I could write off the cuff, share things I thought were cool, and move on knowing that people would forget anything silly that I may have written in the past.
Tumblr also showed me all the things I wish I could do with a blog, like review comments from friends, or use my blog as a personal control center through which to access the web. So it's with sadness that I move away from Tumblr for my core blogging activity. But thankfully, Tumblr allows me to aggregate all my web RSS feeds, so anyone can continue to read my posts on this blog on robgo.tumblr.com
